Payment Policy
Adams
Kirkwood Funeral Home
has established a uniform Payment Policy to serve all families fairly and to
alleviate misunderstandings. A
sound Payment Policy enables us to contain our costs to all families we service.
Our general Payment Police is that the entire amount of the funeral is due and
payable prior to services being rendered.
Our highest priority when called upon by families is to provide caring,
compassionate and dignified funeral service and to be accommodating in the
choices of services and merchandise that they so choose.
Secondly, it is fair to say in these business dealings that the funeral
home shall expect to be paid in a timely fashion for the arranged services and
merchandise as anyone else would expect.
We have been and always will be understanding to the associated financial
burden the unexpected funeral cost are to some people and in certain situations
that payment arrangements are necessary. Special consideration will be given in
the matter of payment depending on life insurance.
The funeral home is a small business and it depends greatly on its
patrons. It is not a bank or lending institution.
By being financially sound and keeping accounts receivable to a minimum
we will be able to keep the overall prices of our services and merchandise more
affordable. We regret that we are
unable to accept settlement of estate through attorneys or probate as a means of
financial arrangements.
The following are acceptable Payment arrangements.
Assignable Life Insurance.
We accept life insurance as a means
of full or partial payment once the assignment form has been signed by the
beneficiary (ies) and coverage has been verified through the insurance carrier.
When payment is received from the insurance company, you will be sent a
statement showing the amount received, date of receipt, and balance due (if
any). Processing time is generally 3 to 6 weeks.
Entitled benefits. We
will process on the family’s behalf any death benefits from the Veterans
Administration, City of State Welfare Department or Nursing Home Accumulated
Funds Account as payment towards funeral expenses. If these funds do not cover
the complete cost of the funeral, the family is responsible for the balance and
our general Payment Policy would apply. If these funds generally take more than
3 to 6 weeks to collect, the family will be expected to pay us and we will
refund any payments to them when the funds are received.
We accept cash, personal and bank checks and credit cards (VISA and
Master Card) as forms of payment. All
unpaid balances after thirty days (30) from the date of contract accrue a
finance charge of 2% per month (24% per year).
As a community services it is our policy to offer our services and
facilities at a reduced rate to infants less than one year of age.
Services for children are also offered at a reduced rate. It is our
policy that no one be denied a service because of limited financial resources.
If you would like to arrange a service and do not have sufficient funds to pay
in accordance with our General Price List, we will be pleased to discuss
alternative arrangements that will fit your means.
