Click for larger imageMALTA-William "Bill" Martin Matovich, age 66, a heavy equipment operator, passed away after a short illness at the Phillips County Hospital on Thurs. May 26, 2011.

    At his request, there will be no funeral services. At a later date there will be a memorial when his and his Dad's ashes will be spread over the Missouri River Breaks and the Long X ranch.     He was born in Billings, MT on March 3, 1945 to Edith (Jensen) and Martin Matovich. He was raised in the Phillips County area and cowboyed most of his younger life. He worked on the family ranch, the Long X, helping his Dad, Martin, until his late 20's. The Long X is now part of the CMR Game Refuge is S. Phillips County.

    He married Wilma "Judy" Boe Crowder and they had one daughter, Susan. They later divorced. Then he married Sharon (Solheim) Fladland and they later divorced. In 1985 Bill married Mary Simpson of Glasgow who remained his life long companion. Bill worked as a heavy equipment operator most of his life. He spent 20 years in Nevada. Bill had the Matovich sense of humor and loved to socialize with the good 'ol boys down town. He had many friends from all walks of life.

    He is survived by his wife Mary of Malta, his daughter Susan Matovich, his grandchildren Shelby and Jessie Cole of Malta, his stepchildren Marie Freede of Kalispell, Duke Mazeka of Billings, and Kari of Kalispell, and numerous grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn (Jack) Jensen of Saco and Karen (Raymond) Uskiewicz of Minot, ND.
