
HAYS-Wallace “Wally” Grant-Doney Sr., 41 passed away on February 8, from unknown causes at his home in Hays. His death is under investigation by the county coroner.
Wake starts at 5:00 P.M., Friday, Feb. 10, with the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the St. Paul’s Mission Gymnasium at Hays. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, at the St. Paul’s Mission Gymnasium. Burial will be in the St Paul’s Mission Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com. Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
Wally was born on October 9, 1970 to the late Gail Ruth Grant & Wallace Henry Bear Jr. Wally was adopted when he was 3 months old by his parents Wallace & Carol “Grant” Doney. He attended school at Hays-Lodge Pole and graduated from Pine Hills High School. Wally was married to Charlotte Werk-Doney. To this day he is one of the two that holds the most points made in a high school boys’ basketball game in the history of Montana, which is 65 points. Wally loved basketball, hunting, fishing and camping but most of all he loved being with his family. Wally was very compassionate and cared for his family. He enjoyed telling people stories but most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids taking them hunting and fishing. He will always be remembered for the love that he had for his wife, kids, grandkids, nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Wally is survived by his wife Charlotte Werk-Doney of Hays, Mother Carol Grant-Doney, daughters Lynn Rose Werk of Havre, Jaclyn (Colt) Doney of Harlem, and Carla Grant of Hays. Sons: Wally Grant Doney Jr., Robert Timms, Mitch Grant all of Hays, and Clayburn (Faron) Grant of Arlee, Mt. Grandkids: Colt Jr., LaShawntae, Leland, Devonta, James, Tyhonah, Mitchell III, Haiden, Ayden, Anaya, Alec and nephew Eagle Sisters: Wallisa Doney, Mikkie (Anthony) Grant, Oshawna (Johnny) Sorrell, Shawnda (Joe) Doney all of Hays, and Viola Grant of North Dakota, Brothers Bruce (Suzie) Grant of Havre, John (Annette) Grant, Mitch (Brenda) Grant of Arlee, ShawnR (Sheila) Grant-Doney, Nevada, Nick Birdtail of Billings and all of his Bear Brothers & Sisters.

I am really sorry for your loss. Wally Doney Sr., was a really great guy and like an older brother to me. He will be severely missed, the news of his passing was heard throughout Indian Country. He is mourned by many.
