Click for larger imageMALTA-Ruth Opland Truax, 86, of Malta died of natural causes on September 6th, 2011 at the Hi-Line retirement center.

    Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, Sept. 9, at the Malta Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. Condolences for the family may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com. Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.

    Ruth Evelyn Opland was born on January 23, 1925 to Dederick and Bentina Opland of Nashua. She was one of five children. After moving to Malta, Ruth married Bill Pray, they later divorced. They had two children, Sherry and Allen “Sandy”. Ruth married Kenneth Truax, May 5, 1956; they had one daughter, Roxanne. Ruth and Kenny lived in Whitewater and later moved to Malta where years after they eventually retired together from their Farmer’s Insurance Group Agency. Kenny and Ruth loved to dance and play cards. They were active in the V.F.W. Post of Malta. They enjoyed spending time at their cabin by the lake and they were also originating members of the Milk River Wagon Train. Ruth was a member of the Malta Lutheran Church.

    She is survived by daughters Sherry & Ray Reede of Wolf Point, MT and Roxanne & Gerard VanHoudt of Pasco, WA, and daughter in law, Lorna Pray-Humbert of Malta; eleven grandchildren, Shawna Myers, Rusty Pray and Rebel & Rick Levesque, all of Malta; Dina & Joe Sullivan, Kenny, Sam, Tony, Zachary, Johnny and Paul Van Houdt of Pasco, WA; five Great-Grandchildren; McKenna & McCall Levesque, Tel Jensen & Quin Pray of Malta and Luke Sullivan of Pasco, WA; Sisters; Gladys Neybakken and Esther Kraus both from Glasgow, brother, Clarence Opland form Redmaond, Wash. and a sister in-law, Betty Opland form Malta. She is also survived by special daughter, Dixie Moore and her children, Julie & Nolan Moore; Mary, Ray & MaRae Smail and Scott Moore – and Godson, Jay Brown of Whitewater.

    She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenny; her parents, her brother, Benny Opland; her son, Sandy, a baby daughter and a baby son.

    Ruth’s greatest love was her family.
