
MALTA-Norman R. Dyrdahl, 84, a retired farmer/rancher, died Tuesday, May 17, at the Hi-Line Retirement Center of natural causes.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., Sunday at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 23 at the Malta Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery, Condolences for the family may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com. Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
Norman was born to Lewis and Bertha Dyrdahl on October 29, 1926 at Malta Montana. He lived in the Loring area all his life. Norman started at the Hermanson School, and then later went to the Loring School where he graduated from high school. He married Rose Coons on March 2, 1947 in Loring. He was a lifelong member of the Loring Lutheran Church. Norman farmed with his dad for a while. Rose and Norman then leased the William Dunnigan place in 1953 and later bought it in 1957. He was a Director of Federal Land Board for a while and later Director of the First State Bank.
Norman is preceded in death by his wife Rose in January of 2005; sister Ann Johnson in 2009, mother Bertha in 1980, and father Lewis in 1970. He is survived by his sister Ilene Plouffe of Great Falls and numerous nephews and nieces and friends.
