MALTA-Larry J. Komis, 62, a former Marine and retired Montana Highway Department worker, died Tuesday, May 17 of cancer as result of Agent Orange.

    Visitation will be Sunday, May 22 from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Kirkwood Funeral Home with the family receiving friends 5:00 P.M. Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M. Monday at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery with Military Honors. Condolences for the family may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com. Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.

    Larry was born June 4, 1948 at Malta, the son of Arthur and Nellie M. (Henry) Komis, He was raised and educated in Malta. He entered the U.S. Marine Corp in August of 1965 and served for three years. He served in Vietnam for a total of 18 months. He worked as a truck driver for a number of years traveling around the country. Larry married Marilyn Peters on June 9, 1973 in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. They moved to Malta in 1975. He worked several jobs before going to work for Montana Highway Department on a road crew. He retired last December because of health problems. Larry loved to drive the activities bus for school functions and wanted to do that full time in his retirement. Larry also loved gardening and reading.

    Survivors include his mother Nellie Komis, wife Marilyn Komis both of Malta; daughters, Tricia (Chris) Treichel of Clinton, Michelle Komis of Malta, LeAnn Komis of Missoula; grandchildren, Stephen, KayLynn, Jacob, step-granddaughter Brooke Treichel. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Art Komis and brother, Gale Komis.

I have prayed and thought so often for the Komis family since meeting in Billings. We had a connection right away.
I have held you all in my thoughts and Prayers.
Larry is an inspiration to all cancer patients. Marilyn if there is anything I can do for you, the girls please let me know.
