MALTA-Earl
Slade went to his Lord on July 20, 2011; a WWII Veteran retired
farmer and rancher at his home of natural causes.Services will be held at the Malta Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23. Interment with military honors will be in the Malta Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com. Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Frances, his sons Dale (Joelyn) and Bud (Beth) both of Malta; daughters, Laurel “Sis” Mann of Butte and Kathy Sorbel of Coeur d’Alene, ID; brother, Mac (Joann) Slade, sister, Tonya (Edward) Waldhauser both of Billings; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was born in Malta on October 9, 1922 to Clayton and Rae Slade. He was raised on farm in the Loring area, and then moved to Malta in 1930 where he attended school until leaving to do two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He worked in Anchorage, Alaska until he went to the Army Air Corps during WW II where he was a gunner. He married Frances Armstrong on June 12, 1948. He was self-employed and worked in earth moving and farming & ranching.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Rae Slade, brothers Dale and Don, sister, Patricia, great-grandson Joshua Mann, son-in-laws Smuck Mann and Greg Sorbel.
