
Isaac
Manson Frye, (Grandpa Isaac) 91, a Army Air Corp veteran and retired
rancher passed away February 23, 2010 at the Hi-Line Retirement Center in
Malta, Montana.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 27, at the Kirkwood
Memorial Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in the Malta
Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7:00
P.M. at the chapel. Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of

Manson
was born September 6, 1918 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Ike and Azilee
(Pierson) Frye. He was a true cowboy whose life centered around his family
and his Herford cattle. Manson began his education in Glasgow, Montana
continuing at Leedy and finishing 8th grade at Telegraph Creek.
Manson, the oldest of four boys, started his ranching career at the age of
12. His father, Ike passed away in 1930 during the depression and the 7
years drought. Manson drove a four horse team pulling a slip scrapper
building reservoirs while working for the PWA (Public Works
Administration).
Manson was inducted into the Army Air Corp on August 27, 1942. During his
time in the services, he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in the
Northern Pacific Ocean off the coast of Alaska. He served as a tail
gunner on a B-24, the first four engine bomber of World Ward II that had a
tail gun.
After being honorably discharged from the Air Corp in 1945, Manson
returned to Telegraph Creek. He married Florence J. Baeth on January 11,
1947 at the Little White Church in Malta. In the spring of that year they
moved to their ranch on Beaver Creek, South of Malta where their son Bob
was born. During these years Manson & Florence along with Bob and his
family were blessed to establish a four generation ranch. Manson &
Florence retired in 2002 and moved to Malta.
Manson is survived by his wife, Florence, of 63 years; son Bob (Theresa)
Frye of Malta; granddaughter, Miranda (Matt) Hencz, great-granddaughters,
Gracee & Hallee of Havre; grandson Wes (Amy) Frye, great-grandchildren
Riley & Aubrey of Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his father,
Ike Frye, mother, Azilee Frye Johnston, step-father, Alton Johnston,
brothers, Norman, Harold, and Howard Frye and infant daughter, Janet.
