MALTA-Donna J. Becker, 78, a retired secretary and newspaper reporter, died Friday, July 3rd of natural causes at a local nursing home in Malta.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 8, at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel in Malta. Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery. Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements. Condolences for the family may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest “Ernie” Becker of Malta; daughter, Cheryl “Woody” Wallace of Malta; sons, Daniel R. Stinson of Helena, Allen H. Becker of Whitefish; brother, Lee Hill of Washington; three grandchildren, Shawna, Lindsay, Eric and two great grandchildren, Jason and Devon.
Donna was born May 6, 1932, just north of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the daughter of John Bert and Lucy Elizabeth (Applegate) Brink. She moved to Deer Lodge as a small child and graduated from high school there in 1950. She worked in the prison for a couple of years and the moved to Bozeman where she worked in the purchasing department for Montana State University for many years. She married Ernie Becker on August 21, 1955. In 1969 they started moving because of Ernie’s job, first to Baker, then Cut Bank, and Glasgow for 12 years. In 1988 they moved to Malta. She worked as a secretary and in the Glasgow and Malta newspapers. Donna was always active in many groups, VFW Auxiliary, the Lady Gideon’s, and Order of Eastern Star and many more. Her church was a very important part of her life, playing the piano and organ, being active in the ladies groups, and helping where ever she could. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and playing music.
