
MALTA-
A. Richard Overberg, 60,
retired Montana Department of Transportation supervisor for the
Malta
area, died Sunday, Dec. 13, at the
Malta
hospital of a heart attack.
Wake services will be 7:00 P.M., Thursday, Dec. 17 at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in
Malta
. Memorial Mass services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, Dec. 18, at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment of the ashes will be at a later
date. Kirkwood Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Rich was born April 17, 1949 in
Wolf
Point
, the son of Alvin J. and Doris R. (Kirkaldie) Overberg. He was raised
and educated in Dodson and
Malta
and graduated from
Malta
High School
in 1967. He attended
Eastern
Montana
College
in
Billings
for a year. He married Cleo M. Hasquet on Dec. 1, 1973 in
Billings
. They moved north of Dodson in Feb. 1975 to help on the family ranch.
In 1976 he started working for the Phillips County Road Department and
later went to the Montana DOT, working his way up to supervisor of the
Malta
area. Rich was forced into early retirement because of health problems.
He enjoyed golf, Texas Holdem, Canasta with his mother, traveling,
shopping, and buying and selling used cars.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo of Malta, son, Troy Overberg of Great
Falls, daughter and son-in-law, Tracie (Ben) Kirven of Buffalo, Wyoming;
mother Doris Nicholson of
Malta
; brother, Karole (Judy) Overberg of Clarkston,
Wash.
; sisters, Barbara Downs of Billings, Dana Kay (James) Bledsoe of
Orange, Calif., Debbie Nicholson of Malta; grandsons, Leslie, Richie and
Fischer.
