Otto A. Scheffelmaer, 82, a
retired ranch hand, died Sunday, March 29 at the
Phillips
County
Hospital
of natural causes. .
Double funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 2, at the
Dodson
High School
with the
Malta
Church of Latter Day Saints officiating. Interment will be in the
Hillside
Cemetery
. There will be a luncheon at the
Dodson
Lutheran
Church
following the services. Condolences maybe left at
www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com. Adams Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in
charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his children, Otto (Martha) Scheffelmaer of Lewistown,
Robert (Candus) Scheffelmaer and Mitch (Ruth) Scheffelmaer both of
Harlem; daughter, Donna (Ken) Brese of
Pocatello
, Id; sister, Thelma Saunders of
Missoula
; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and special “adopted
son” Merle (Jackie) Kaasa of Hinsdale. He was preceded in death
granddaughter Leila “Lee” Rae Cumber, great-grandson Cayden Michael
Buckman.
Otto was born November 4, 1926 in

Phillips
County
, the son of Gottfried and Wilhelmia (Albrecht) Scheffelmaer. He was
raised in
Valley
Town
and
Saco
. He married Lela Nielsen on August 29, 1952. Otto was a hard working
man and worked on different ranches in
Phillips
County
. His last place of employment was the Gilbert Ranch where he retired
from in 2002. He enjoyed his grandchildren and being with his wife. Otto
enjoyed long drives around the county to look at the old homesteads and
sharing stories with his family. Until his health failed he used to go
hunting and camping.
