Newton E. Cummings, 96 years, retired house mover and rural mail carrier
died October 21, 2009 at the
Hi-Line
Retirement
Center
of natural causes. There are no services planned at this time. Cremation
has taken place at Hi-Line Crematory. Condolences may be left at www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.
Kirkwood Funeral Home and Hi-Line Crematory are in charge of
arrangements.
Survivors
include his wife Myra-Lucille of 73 years, daughters, Ethel (Glenn)
Hoover, Ronan; Loretta Haynes, Billings; Janice (Craig) Mitchell, Malta;
and sons George (Myna) Cummings, Malta; Tom (Margie) Cummings, Grass
Range; Glenn (Jackie) Cummings, Plains; Bruce (Jani) Cummings, Malta;
Clark (Gail) Cummings, Malta; many grandchildren, great grandchildren,
nieces and nephews to numerous to mention.
Newton
was born November 26, 1912 in
Akron
,
New York
, to Scott and Anna (Kreatz) Cummings. He worked at many different jobs
as a young man. On July 2 1936 he married Myra “Lucille” Clark. He
lived in the
Regina
area for years farming and moving houses. From there they moved to
Zortman where he had a repair shop and garage. Then back to
Malta
where he moved houses and had a rural mail route until his retirement.
They made their home in
Saco
. Music was his passion. He played the violin for dances.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers, and a
son Richard, son-in-law Bill Nace and Grandson Shane Nace.
