
DODSON-Lela
Rae “Toots” Scheffelmaer, 71, a retired cook and librarian, died
Thursday, March 26 at her home in Dodson of natural causes. Otto
Scheffelmaer, 82, a ranch hand died Sunday, March 29 at the
Phillips
County
Hospital
of natural causes.
Double funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 2, at the
Dodson
High School
with the
Malta
Church of Latter Day Saints officiating. Interment will be in the
Hillside
Cemetery
. There will be a luncheon at the
Dodson
Lutheran
Church
following the services. Condolences maybe left at
www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com. Adams Kirkwood Funeral Home of Malta is in
charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Otto Scheffelmaer of Dodson; sons, Otto
(Martha) Scheffelmaer of Lewistown, Robert (Candus) Scheffelmaer and
Mitch (Ruth) Scheffelmaer both of Harlem; daughter, Donna (Ken) Brese of
Pocatello, Id; brother, James Arthur Nielsen of Florida; 15
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and special “adopted son”
Merle (Jackie) Kaasa of Hinsdale. She was preceded in death by her dad,
Carl Nielsen; her mother and step father, Hazel & John Moore,
brothers, Carl “Speed” Nielsen, John W. Moore, sister Betty Lee
Christiansen, granddaughter Leila “Lee” Rae Cumber, great-grandson
Cayden Michael Buckman .
Lela was born November 8, 1937 in
Salt Lake City
,
Utah
, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Kielt) Nielsen. She was raised in
Malta
and Dodson and traveled in
Germany
. She married Otto Scheffelmaer on August 29, 1952. Lela was a hard
working woman and worked as a cook on different ranches, the
Phillips
County
Hospital
and was the Librarian for the Dodson Schools. She enjoyed sewing,
genealogy, cooking and canning, rock and arrow head hunting and looking
for teepee rings. Her grandchildren were very important in her life and
always gave her great joy.
