, a retired meat cutter, died peacefully in the presents of his three
daughters Saturday, May 30, 2009 of complications as a result of a heart
attack.
His funeral will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Kirkwood
Funeral Home in
Malta
with burial at
Malta

Survivors include his wife of twenty four years, Patricia Olson; three
daughters, Sandy (Darrell) Kovach of Malta, Kathy (Ken) Agnew of
Arlington, WA, Cheryl (Alex) Peterson of Puyallup, WA; two sisters,
Bonnie (Jack) Millar of Malta, Zoeann (Robert) Humphreys of Malta; three
stepchildren, Patrick Turner of Superior, Teresa (Tim) Attwood of
Roanoke, VA, Mark Shoen of Bonner; an aunt, Delphine Jackson of
California, an uncle Harold (Jackie) Olson of Malta; fourteen
grandchildren, one expectant great grandchild and many cousins.

was preceded in death by his parents.

was born in
Malta
October 1, 1941 the eldest child of Joyce and Clarence Olson.
Gary
attended school in
Malta
and at the age of eighteen he began his life long career as a meat
cutter for Buttery Food first in
Malta
followed by
Wolf
Point
, Conrad, and then settling in
Missoula
where he retired after many years.
Gary
was a Union member of the UFCW, AFL-CIO Local 242, and Meat Cutters
Union. After retirement Gary and Pat relocated to
Saco
. In
Gary
’s younger years he had a passion for playing horse shoes, bowling,
and water skiing. Gary and his first wife Shirley would take his three
daughters regularly to the race track to watch the stock car races in
Missoula
. They also took their three girls camping and fishing.
Gary
had an extreme love for hunting deer and birds.
Gary
obtained his private pilots license in May of 1985, soon to purchase his
own single engine aircraft where he found great comfort in flying.
Gary
enjoyed communicating on CB radios as a HAM operator.
Gary
was always on the go, puttering around the house and yard, watching the
bunnies and birds, tinkering on small engines and enjoyed fixing lawn
mowers. He liked to play cribbage and pool.

loved to watch Rodeos specifically the Bull Riding. We love you and will
miss you terribly Daddy, but we are so very thankful that you are now
free and with your parents.
