M. Haubrich, 98, a homemaker and cook, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at her
home in Dodson with her family around her.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place at
the Hi-Line Crematory. Arrangements are by Kirkwood Funeral Home and

Survivors include her daughters, Dolores Schrack of Big Timber, Barbara
Haubrich of Dodson; sons, Edward Haubrich of Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis
Haubrich of Senora, Calif., Joseph Haubrich of Billings; sister, Rosie
Applehans of Prescott, Ariz.; numerous grandchildren, great
grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband,
Joseph, and four sisters and three brothers.
Catherine was born November 19, 1910 in
Germany
as her family made preparations to come to
America
. She was the oldest of nine children born to Joseph N. and M. Barbara (Lechman)
Applehans. The family homesteaded near Dodson. She graduated from
Dodson
High School
and attended
Northern
Montana
College
for two years to receive a Teaching Certificate. She taught for a number
of years in a rural school. Catherine met and later married Edward
Haubrich in 1933. The raised their family in Dodson where she taught her
children to Love and Serve God. She worked as a cook for the Dodson
Schools for many years. She was active in the Sacred Heart Catholic of
Dodson. She enjoyed knitting and was very skilled at it, and she also
loved gardening.
