VAUGHN-Former
Zortman resident, Buddy J. Morgan, 77, Korean War veteran and retired
Anaconda Smelter worker, died Wednesday, September 23, at his home of
natural causes.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00, A.M., Monday, September 28, at the St.
Joseph Catholic Church in Zortman. Burial with military honors will be
in the
Zortman
Cemetery
. There will be a gathering of family and friends, Tuesday, September 29
at Lippi’s Kitchen in
Great Falls
between 4 and 6 PM. Memorials may be made to the Vaughn First Responders
or to a charity of ones choice. Condolences for the family may be left

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Morgan of Vaughn; daughters, Mary
(Ron) Kunkel of Belt, Alaine Morgan of
Great Falls
; sons, Buddy (Patti) Morgan Jr., Albert (Julie) Morgan, Arthur (Cindy)
Morgan all of Cookeville, Tenn.; nieces, Betty Hasler and Connie Zanto
both of Malta, Juanita Kolczak of Billings; 14 grandchildren, 4 great
grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents and a sister Arleda
Kolczak.
Buddy was born January 14, 1932 in
Malta
, the son of Albert and Jewel (Sharette) Morgan. He was raised and
educated in Zortman. He joined the Army in 1952 and served in
Korea
. He married Bernice Longpre on May 20, 1954 in
Malta
. After his discharge they moved
Great Falls
and in 1960 moved to Vaughn. He worked for the Anaconda Smelter Company
in
Great Falls
as a crane operator until the plant closed in 1980. Buddy worked out of
his home rebuilding, selling and trading cars. It was a hobby that he
loved and was able to teach his sons. He also worked for the Sun River
Cattle Company as their maintenance man. For 30 + years he worked as
operator of the Vaughn Water District. Buddy enjoyed wood working,
riding his classic Harley, playing the guitar and the violin and
singing.
